Camdeboo

Camdeboo Local Municipality which incorporates the towns of Graaff-Reinet, Aberdeen, and Nieu-Bethesda is strategically situated as a portal to the mystical Karoo in an area renowned for its pristine natural environment, rich heritage, diverse peoples and cultures. The area (12,422km²) boasts a number of popular tourist attractions, beautiful landscapes and a healthy climate. Being situated in an arid area within the Cacadu district, Camdeboo faces many challenges, the biggest of which is water.The lack of sustainable and permanent water is probably the most inhibiting factor in the area’s development, as it restricts both agricultural and industrial activities. Lekwa

Lekwa Local Municipality was established on the 5th of  December 2000 after the amalgamation of 3 former Transitional Local Councils namely Standerton, Sakhile and Morgenzon. Lekwa Local Municipality lies on the large open plains of the Highveld region that is characterised by tall grass and is transversed by the Vaal River which flows in a westerly direction. The municipality spans an area of 4 586 km2 which equates to 15% of the overall area of GertSibande District.

The Municipality is named after the Vaal River which is commonly known as Lekwa (a Sotho name for Vaal River).

The Municipality consists of Standerton which serves as an urban node, whileMorgenzon, which is 45km North East of Standerton,serves as a satellite node. It is landlocked by the following local municipalities, Pixley ka Seme and Msukaligwa on the east, Dipaliseng on the west and Govan Mbeki on the north. Mandeni

Mandeni Local Municipality (formerly eNdondakusuka Local Municipality) is an administrative area in the iLembe District of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa. Manufacturing, elementary work and plant and machine work are the highest non-farming categories of labour. Mandeni includes substantial areas of commercial agriculture, with the bulk of these areas under sugar-cane. Agriculture is the main employment sector in the area. Tourism industry in Mandeni is also observable at the Tugela Mouth area. The history of the area cannot be divorced from the tourism potential. Great battles have been fought by the Zulus against the British in this area through the involvement of King Cetshwayo. The area was one of the most important agricultural areas of the Kingdom of KwaZulu since the reigns of Kings Malandela, Jama, Senzangakhona, Shaka, Dingane and Mpande. During the reigns of Kings Shaka and Dingane, the eNdondakusuka area formed part of the area regarded as Prince Mpande’s sphere of influence. Dipaleseng

Dipaleseng Local Municipality is situated in the southern part of the GertSibande District Municipality. Balfour is located in the heart of world-renowned coalfields and the Goldfields belt. This modern and predominantly industrial town is located in close proximity (80km) to the nationally well-known industrial areas of Johannesburg. The Balfour/Siyathemba urban area is 340km from Nelspruit and 80km from Johannesburg. The internationally known abattoir, the “biggest abattoir in Africa”, is found in Dipaleseng (Balfour town), with a vast number of by-products including inorganic chemicals, fertilizers, etc.being manufactured in the area.
