uMlalazi

uMlalazi Local Municipality is made up of the towns of Eshowe, Mtunzini, and Gingindlovu. The villages of Amatikulu and Ntumeni, together with considerable rural hinterland, cover one of the largest geographical areas of all municipalities in South Africa, with a total area of 2 217 km2. The municipal area is dominated by tribal areas, and 14 Tribal Authorities exist within the area (uMlalazi municipality website). The area appears to have sufficient sources for the provision of water. A complicating factor is the undulating topography, which is characteristic of the entire municipal area. In some instances it is therefore difficult and expensive to provide these services. Arterial roads through the area are in good condition. In practically all instances district roads and farm roads are in poor condition and in need of upgrading.read more »

èDumbe Local Municipality is situated in the north-western part of KwaZulu-Natal. It covers an area of 3 239 km².The municipal area of jurisdiction is demarcated into 8 wards which is predominantly rural in nature. The èDumbe Municipality is located in one of the poorest and poverty stricken district municipalities in KwaZulu-Natal. Ndwedwe Local Municipality is one of the four local municipalities within the Ilembe District Municipality. Polokwane Municipality is situated in the central part of the Limpopo Province. The municipality shares the name with the biggest town in Limpopo called Polokwane. It is the largest metropolitan complex in the north and a major economic centre with 38 wards. Elias Motsoaledi

Elias Motsoaledi local municipality is a local municipality within the Sekhukhune District Municipality, in Limpopo Province. The municipality came as an amalgamation of the former Moutse Transitional Local Council (TLC), Hlogotlou TLC, Tafelkop, Zaaiplaas, Motetema and other surrounding areas in the year 2000. The municipality is named after the struggle hero Elias Motsoaledi who was sentenced to life imprisonment on Robben Island with the former president of the Republic of South Africa, Nelson Mandela. The municipality borders Makuduthamaga local municipality in the south, Ephraim Mogale local municipality in the east, Greater Tubatse local Municipality and Mpumalanga’s Dr JS Moroka, Thembisile Hani, Steve Tshwete, Emakhazeni and Thaba Chweu local municipalities. It is situated about 180 km’s from Polokwane, 135 km from Pretoria and 150 km’s from Nelspruit. The municipality is the third smallest of the five (5) local municipalities in Sekhukhune District, constituting 27,7% of the area with 3668,334 square kilometers of the district’s 13 264 square kilometers. Land ownership is mostly traditional and the municipality is predominantly rural with about sixty two settlements, most of which are villages.  The municipality has thirty wards.
