Camdeboo Local Municipality which incorporates the towns of Graaff-Reinet, Aberdeen, and Nieu-Bethesda is strategically situated as a portal to the mystical Karoo in an area renowned for its pristine natural environment, rich heritage, diverse peoples and cultures. The area (12,422km) boasts a number of popular tourist attractions, beautiful landscapes and a healthy climate. Lekwa

Lekwa Local Municipality was established on the 5th of December 2000 after the amalgamation of 3 former Transitional Local Councils namely Standerton, Sakhile and Morgenzon. Lekwa Local Municipality lies on the large open plains of the Highveld region that is characterised by tall grass and is transversed by the Vaal River which flows in a westerly direction. The municipality spans an area of 4 586 km2 which equates to 15% of the overall area of GertSibande District.

The Municipality is namedafter the Vaal River which is commonly known as Lekwa (a Sotho name for Vaal River).

The Municipality consists of Standerton which serves as an urban node, whileMorgenzon, which is 45km North East of Standerton,serves as a satellite node. It is landlocked by the following local municipalities, Pixley ka Seme and Msukaligwa on the east, Dipaliseng on the west and Govan Mbeki on the north. Emalahleni Local Municipality is a category B municipality situated within the Chris Hani District Municipality of the Eastern Cape province. Greater Giyani Local Municipality was established in 1969. It is an administrative and commercial centre of the Mopani district and also the former capital of Gazankulu. Greater Giyani Local Municipality derives its name from the town Giyani, whichis a Tsonga word meaninga place where people danceandaland of the friendly people. Giyani is also rich in cultural history with royal families dating back as far as 1822. The town of Giyani is located approximately 185 km from Polokwane, 100 km from Thohoyandou and 550 km from Pretoria. The municipality covers about 2967 km2 land area. Its eastern section borders the world famous Kruger National Park,with NwamankenaVillage to the west, Mphakani Village to the south, and the Klein Letaba River to the north. The Municipality is demarcated into 30 wards and has 60 councillors. The ten traditional authority areas comprise 91 villages. Mnquma

Mnquma Local Municipality is located in the south eastern part of the Eastern Cape province. It is a category B municipality falling under the jurisdiction of the Amathole District Municipality and comprises of an amalgamation of the former Butterworth, Ngqamakhwe and Centane Tribal Regional Councils (TRCs). Mnquma Local Municipality shares borders with three other local municipalities i.e. Mbhashe, Intsika Yethu and Great Kei Municipality.
