Mtubatuba

Mtubatuba is one of the five municipalities within Umkhanyakude District Municipality in KwaZulu Natal. Mtubatuba was named after the inkosi Mtubatuba of the Mkhwanazi Clan.  It is situated on the north-east coast of the province, and was home to 175  425 people.  Covering an area of approximately 1970km² Mtubatuba Municipality was one of the most urbanised municipality within the district, with 15% of the municipality falling under urban areas. The two main town areas are Mtubatuba and St Lucia.  The vast majority of the municipality was under traditional authority - almost 80% - indicating a high proportion of people residing in scattered, rural villages under the jurisdiction of traditional authorities.  The Isimangaliso Wetland Park World Heritage Site falls under Matubatuba.read more »

Makhado

Named after a 19th century vhaVenda king, Makhado, who ruled the area for many years, this is a fertile region where litchis, bananas, mangoes and nuts are produced. The national road (N1) runs through the town.

Makhado is situated in a highly fertile, rapidly growing agricultural area; the town has become one of Limpopo's premier business and tourist destinations and is the perfect springboard from which to visit the Songozwi sacred burial site of the vhaVenda, as well as Makhado's 'office', a secluded cave from where the chief conducted his campaign against the Voortrekkers.

The well-known town of Louis Trichardt is situated at the foot of the Soutpansberg mountain range in Limpopo and was developed from the Voortrekker settlement in the area. It was named after the leader Louis Trichardt, who moved away from British rule in the Cape and arrived here in 1836.

Emalahleni

EmalahleniLocal Municipality is situated in Mpumalanga province, and it represents one of the six local municipalities in the Nkangala District Municipality. It forms part of the western regions of the province and borders Gauteng province. The southern parts of EmalahleniLocal Municipality form part of the precinct referred to as the Energy Mecca of South Africa, due to its rich deposits of coal reserves and power stations such as Kendal, Matla, Duvha and Ga-Nala. The southward road and rail network connect the Emalahleni area to the Richards Bay and Maputo harbours, offering export opportunities for coal reserves. Kai !Garib

Kai !Garib Local Municipality is situated along the Orange River, and is bordered by //Khara Hais Local Municipality on the north-east and Namibia on the north-west.  It falls within the Siyanda District Municipality.  This area consists of three large towns: Kakamas, Keimoes and Kenhardt. Six former settlements can be found between these towns.  It is characterised by its unique landscape with the Kalahari Desert on the one side and the Orange River on the other.  The agricultural sector is the main economic sector with the largest potential for economic growth.
