Siyathemba

Siyathemba Local Municipality is a local municipality in the PixleykaSeme District Municipality in the Northern Cape Province of South Africa.Siyathemba Municipality is a Category B Municipality (NC077), established in 2001, in accordance with the demarcation process. The municipality is located within the central eastern parts of the Northern Cape Province on the banks of the Orange River, and falls within the boundaries of the PixleykaSeme District. The nearest business centre is Kimberley, which is about 220km away. Siyathemba Municipality was initially made up of three entities, namely, Prieska, Marydale and Niekerkshoop. After demarcation the area was extended to include not only the towns and surrounding suburbs of Marydale, Niekerkshoop and Prieska but also Copperton.The municipal area encompasses a geographic area of approximately 8,200km, which implies that Siyathemba Municipality accounts for 8% of the total district surface area and approximately 3% of the provincial area. Kai !Garib

Kai !Garib Local Municipality is situated along the Orange River, and is bordered by //Khara Hais Local Municipality on the north-east and Namibia on the north-west. It falls within the Siyanda District Municipality. This area consists of three large towns: Kakamas, Keimoes and Kenhardt. Six former settlements can be found between these towns. It is characterised by its unique landscape with the Kalahari Desert on the one side and the Orange River on the other. Sol Plaatjie

The Sol Plaatje Local Municipality is named after Solomon Tshekisho Plaatje who was a South African intellectual, journalist, linguist, politician, translator, and writer. Solomon Plaatje was born just outside Boshof, in the former Orange Free State (now Free State province, South Africa). The Sol Plaatje Local Municipality is the second largest local municipality in the district with an area covering 3145 km and comprising a large urban node in the form of Kimberley, as well as villages and farms. Kimberley is the administrative centre of the municipality. Sol Plaatje Local Municipality is the largest local municipality in the Frances Baard District Municipality in terms of population size.read more »


Dikgatlong

Dikgatlong Local Municipality is a Category B municipality in Frances Baard District Municipality in the Northern Cape. It has seven wards. The municipal areas are Barkly-West, Windsorton, Delportshoop and a portion of the former Diamantveld District Council.

The head office of the municipality is situated in the town of Barkly West that is approximately 35 km north-west of the city of Kimberley on the northern bank of the Vaal River. Barkly West is situated on the Kimberley-Postmasburg growth corridor. The municipal area covers approximately 7315 km and borders with the Magareng Municipality in the north-east and Sol Plaatje in the south-east. Agriculture and mining form the economic basis of the area.
