Nama Khoi

The pretty town of Springbok is found in the heart of the Namaqualand within spitting distance of other typical Namaqualand towns like AlexanderBay, Pofadder, Garies, Kleinzee and Port Nolloth, 570 kilometres north of Cape Town.

Kamiesberg

The vision of the KamiesbergLocalMunicipality is to better the quality of life of every citizen in its area.

KamiesbergMunicipality is a category B municipality (NC064) established in 2001 in accordance with the demarcation process. It serves a geographical area of 11742 km and is divided into four municipal wards. It has a population of 10187with an average of approximately one person per square kilometre.

Hantam

The Hantam Municipality covers approximately 30000 square kilometres and includes Calvinia (the centre) as well as Brandvlei, Loeriesfontein, Middelpos and Nieuwoudtville. Calvinia is approximately 400 km from Cape Town, Springbok, Upington and Beaufort West.

The municipality provides work for more than 140 permanent employees. Seventy per cent of the population of approximately 20000 people live and work in the towns. Farming is the main contributor to the economy, namely sheep, wool, lucerne as well as rooibos tea. Numerous government departments are also situated in Calvinia.

Khi-Ma

The Khi-Ma Municipality hosts the well-known town of Pofadder. Pofadder lies about 165 km east of Springbok, about 50 km south of Velloorsdrif border post with Namibia, Onseepkans and the Gariep River, and 125 km west of Kakamas. For more than 200 km southward, there are no towns in the barren Greater Karoo, only a few very small settlements.
