Emalahleni

EmalahleniLocal Municipality is situated in Mpumalanga province, and it represents one of the six local municipalities in the Nkangala District Municipality. It forms part of the western regions of the province and borders Gauteng province. The southern parts of EmalahleniLocal Municipality form part of the precinct referred to as the Energy Mecca of South Africa, due to its rich deposits of coal reserves and power stations such as Kendal, Matla, Duvha and Ga-Nala. The southward road and rail network connect the Emalahleni area to the Richards Bay and Maputo harbours, offering export opportunities for coal reserves. Steve Tshwete

In 1994 Middelburg and Mhluzi, as well as Hendrina and Kwazamokuhle amalgamated to form the Transitional Local Councils. In 2001, a new dispensation for Local Government came into being, whereby the country was demarcated so that every piece of land fell within the jurisdiction of a municipality. Transitional Local Councils of Middelburg and Hendrina, as well as some smaller towns, were amalgamated to form Steve Tshwete Local Municipality (formerly Middelburg Local Municipality). Emakhazeni

EmakhazeniLocal Municipality is situated in the heart of Mpumalanga,covering a total of 4736km2with a total of about 47216 people and eight wards.It is bordered by Mbombela Local Municipality on the east and MiddelburgLocal Municipality on the west. It is one of the six municipalitiesthat fall within the Nkangala District Municipality, and was formed through theamalgamation of four former Transitional Local Councils (TLCs) namely Belfast, Dullstroom,Machadodorp and WatervalBoven.

There are four nature reserves in the area, namely the Tullach-Mohr Reserveon the eastern boundary of the area, the Dullstroom Nature Reservesituated north of Dullstroom and the Verloren Valley Nature reservesituated in the north of Emakhazeni.
