Richmond

Richmond Municipality is situated south of Msunduzi, west of Mkhambathini and the Sisonke District in the south west. Richmond enjoys a competitive advantage in the field of agriculture that contributes to more than 50% of the gross geographic product and employment in the area. Historically, Richmond was one of the main destinations of the Bhambatha Rebellion and the Byrne Settlers. Umtshezi

uMtshezi Local Municipality is an administrative area in the Uthukela District of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa. uMtshezi is an isiZulu word for Bushman or San. uMtshezi Local Municipality comprises parts of the Magisterial Districts of Weenen and Estcourt, the informal settlements of Cornfields, Thembalihle, Mimosadale, and numerous settlements around Weenen. Estcourt is the largest commercial centre in the Midlands region, and an important service centre for the nearby towns of Mooi River, Winterton, Bergville, Colenso and Weenen. Weenen is a small agricultural town that is starting to emerge as a tourist destination. The majority of the people in the municipality are concentrated in urban areas and in farming areas but there are a few patches of high-density settlements within the informal areas. Imbabazane

Imbabazane Local Municipality is located at the foothills of the Central Ukhahlamba Drakensberg Park (World Heritage Site), and is situated between Okhahlamba, Umtshezi and Mooi-Mpofana Municipalities. The majority of the population of Imbabazane Municipality resides in rural villages scattered throughout the municipal area, particularly in traditional authority areas.

Estcourt is the closest urban centre to Imbabazane, and serves as a regional shopping and service centre offering specialist services including medical, education and manufacturing.

Many of the government departments serving Imbabazane have regional offices located in Estcourt. Ladysmith is the main regional shopping and services centre and boasts a healthy industrial centre that continues to expand. Estcourt and Ladysmith are the main employment centres for Imbabazane.

Imbabazane does not have a well-defined settlement pattern, which along with poor municipal capacity has inhibited service delivery.

Greater Kokstad

The Greater Kokstad Municipality is one of the municipalities of the Sisonke District Municipality. It lies on the south-west tip of KwaZulu-Natal and is bordered by Matatiele Local Municipality on the west, Lesotho and part of the Eastern Cape on the north-west.The Greater Kokstad Municipality covers a land area of approximately 2682 km and shares its borders with KwaSani, Matatiele, Umziwabantu local municipalities, and the KwaZulu-Natal enclosed portion of the Eastern Cape. Dumbe Local Municipality is situated in the north-western part of KwaZulu-Natal. It covers an area of 3239 km.The municipal area of jurisdiction is demarcated into 8 wards which is predominantly rural in nature. The Dumbe Municipality is located in one of the poorest and poverty stricken district municipalities in KwaZulu-Natal. (It forms part of Presidential Nodes!). Dumbe is a gateway to KwaZulu-Natal Province and it is a shorter route from Mpumalanga Province to Durban or Pietermaritzburg.
