Highlights of survey methods and findings In February 2007, a large-scale Community Survey was conducted in all provinces. The main objective of the survey was to provide demographic and socio-economic data at municipal level. 949 105 persons were enumerated. 246 618 households were covered during enumeration. Provincial governments continue to invest heavily in education and health
Of the R395 billion spent by provincial government during the 2012/13 financial year, 43% (R170 billion) was spent on education, while 30% (R119 billion) was spent on health.
