11TH AFRICA SYMPOSIUM ON STATISTICAL DEVELOPMENT
“Promoting Use of Information and Communication Technology Solutions in Improving Civil Registration and Vital Statistics in Africa”
- 1. Introduction
The year 2015 has unleashed a number of activities aimed at making Africa Agenda 2063 more practical. Among these are the adoption of its first ten-year implementation plan and the Common Africa Position which ensured that the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) factored African peculiarities. On the statistics front, the year marks an important confluence for official statistics, with the conclusion of the Millennium Development Goals, the Post-2015 Sustainable Development Goals agenda, the data revolution and the preparations for the 2020 World Population and Housing Census Programme; all these against the backdrop of Africa’s Agenda 2063.
