Prevalence of disability in South Africa

Description:
Census 2001 was the second census to be carried out in a democratic South Africa to provide
demographic and socio-economic data required to inform policy decision-making as well as
ascertain the achievements made in the provision of basic services to the people. Data on
disability were collected as part of this important endeavour. This report highlights the key
findings on disability emanating from the analysis of these data.
