KwaZulu-Natal Province: Maths4stats Lecture Series

A Call for teachers in Grades 7-9 and Grades 10-12 to register for:

Free Maths4stats KZN Lecture Series: (i.e. Data handling and probability workshops) scheduled for January – March 2015 in Pietermaritzburg. (The program returns to Durban in 2016)

Brought to you by:

  • Provincial Stats SA (Maths4stats Project) in collaboration with
  • KZN Department of Basic Education and
  • UKZN School of Statistics and Actuarial Science lecturers,

A set of 5 Saturday classes from 08h00 – 13h30 will be on the following dates:
31 Jan, 14 Feb, 28 Feb, 14 March and 28 March 2015.

To be presented by UKZN lecturers at UKZN Campus in Scottsville (PMB), the free workshops are based on school mathematics:

Choose one of the three classes to attend for all 5 Saturdays:

  • Grade 7 – 9 data handling and probability class,
  • Grade 10 – 12 data handling class or
  • Grade 10 – 12 probability and financial mathematics class

Lunch will be provided freely, but candidates travel at own costs.
Training is open to all targeted educators in the province regardless of qualifications, but seats are limited, therefore first come first serve basis shall apply.

Registration process is as follows:

  •  Fill in the registration form (Download PDF 1176KB). (Indicate only one class you choose to attend)
  •  Fax or email it back as directed on the registration form
  •  An SMS confirming / rejecting (if venues are full) your acceptance will be sent to you.

NB: Provide working cellphone number, for sms notification and/or your email address.

Certificate of attendancewill be issued at end of the program, only to candidates who have attended all 5 lectures/lessons. If for some reasons a person fails to attend all 5 as required, one can attend outstanding lesson/s in the next cycle of training, for eligibility of certificate.

This is not an accredited course, but enhances understanding on statistics concepts in the Mathematics Curriculum. The certificate issued carries no credits.
