Nesstar data access service, the primary platform for accessing unit record data, will be discontinued on 31 December 2024.

The service discontinuation is due to the closure of the organisation that provided Nesstar licensing and support services over the years.

The platform provided access to downloadable data flat files, together with the associated metadata.

SuperWEB2 and SuperCROSS will remain the main tools dedicated to generating estimates from published databases through cross-tabulation.

An alternative platform will be available for data access at the end of January 2025.

During the month of January unit records data requests should be sent to the following email address: epd@statssa.gov.za

The following information should be provided with the request email

1. Name of the dataset(s)
2. Year, Quarter,
3. Data usage, g., research, planning, modelling etc.

Datasets and metadata will be shared through the user email address. Any other data related queries should be sent to the email address above.
