MEDIA INVITATION: THE 4TH ISIBALO SYMPOSIUM – ADVANCING EVIDENCE-BASED DECISION-MAKING

The KwaZulu-Natal Office of the Premier, in collaboration with Statistics South Africa (Stats SA), invites members of the media to the 4th ISIbalo Symposium, taking place on 21st and 22nd November 2024.

The symposium serves as a platform to promote evidence-based decision-making through collaborative discussions and knowledge sharing among key stakeholders from government, business, academia, civil society, and schools.

This year’s symposium, themed “Measuring progress in Sustainable Development Outcomes: evidence, data and indicator frameworks” will feature keynote addresses by the Premier of KwaZulu-Natal, the Statistician-General of Stats SA, and other distinguished speakers. The program will also include panel discussions, case study presentations, and exhibitions showcasing innovative approaches to data use and policy development.

 

Discussions and papers will revolve around the following sub-themes:

  • Localising and mainstreaming of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) – Municipal Programmes and Initiatives for progress in review of the 30 years of democracy.
  • Indicator Frameworks in support of provincial growth and development.
  • Policy in development and progress over the past 30 years.

  • Panel discussions on critical provincial issues and data solutions
  • Networking opportunities with thought leaders and stakeholders
