100 Day Countdown to the total count of the population in South Africa, Census 2022

The 100 Day Countdown to Census Night of the next population count, Census 2022, starts on 25 October 2021. The night of 2 February 2022 will be the reference point on which everyone within the borders of South Africa will be counted. Statistics South Africa (Stats SA) is on a nationwide recruitment drive to appoint prospective candidates for fieldwork that includes collecting data from respondents and other activities involved in the pre-enumeration, enumeration and post-enumeration phases.

About 165 000 officials will be recruited across the country to update and identify new dwellings, conduct publicity and to collect data. Recruitment will (ONLY) be through our online database to ensure that people are recruited from their areas of residence. The recruitment database will open from 25 October to 31 December 2021. To register on the database datafree, visit www.statssa.gov.za/hr. You do not have to make any payment to register on the HR Database.
