Statistician-General to release report on the financial statistics of higher education institutions, 2016

The Statistician-General of South Africa, Dr Pali Lehohla, will release the Financial statistics of higher education institutions, 2016 report at a media briefing to be held on Tuesday, 24 October 2017 in Pretoria. This statistical release will provide financial statistics of South Africa’s public higher education institutions for the 2016 financial year.

The Financial statistics of higher education institutions, 2016 report will include data on the income received by higher education institutions in 2016 from various sources, such as tuition fees, government grants, and other receipts. It will also provide a detailed breakdown on cash payments items such as compensation of employees and purchases of goods and services, amongst others. The report will briefly highlight the sources and uses of cash of public higher education institutions (which is 20 universities and 6 universities of technology) for the 2016 financial year.
