Statistician-General to release ‘Whither a Demographic Dividend South Africa: The Overton Window of Political Possibilities, 2017’ report at the 11th Annual University Higher Education Conference tomorrow

Will South Africa reap the benefits of a demographic dividend? How does the country compare with other countries on the globe?
The Statistician-General of South Africa, Dr Pali Lehohla, will on Wednesday, 27 September 2017 release the Whither a Demographic Dividend South Africa, 2017 as part of his keynote address at the 11th Annual University Higher Education Conference in Southern Sun Elangeni, Durban, eThekwini.
The Whither a Demographic Dividend South Africa: The Overton Window of Political Possibilities, 2017 report assesses South Africa’s ability to reap the benefits of a demographic dividend based on a number of socio-economic indicators (labour market, economic growth, education and training, governance, health care and family planning, amongst others), and makes a comparison of South Africa to other nations across the globe. The report also tracks progress, or lack thereof, towards eliminating unemployment, hunger, poverty and inequality over the years 1960–2015.
