Concordia was originally a Renish Mission Station established by Reverend Brecher in the early 1800s. It was later taken over by the Dutch Reformed Mission and served as the headquarters of the Boer Commando while Okiep was under siege. The name is taken from a local copper mine called Concordia. (GPS coordinates: 29.5375 S, 17.9429 E).
