Ezibeleni is a name that means 'place of kindness' or 'place of hospitality', derived from izibele which means kindnesses. Established in the 1960s, the township was officially recognised in 1974 as a place for black South Africans who worked in nearby Queenstown, but who were not allowed to live there. The town is well known for its school choirs, some of which are the best in the country. (GPS coordinates: 31.891 S, 26.9744 E).
