This report provides further insight into the previously published Social Accounting Matrix, Report No. 04-03-02 (1998). Its main focus is on the income and expenditure patterns of the South African population. The aim of the report is not to give a detailed analysis or any policy simulations, but rather to give an overview of the 1998 Social Accounting Matrix that was published in November 2002.
