The total number of foreign travellers who visited South Africa from Africa, overseas and unspecified countries, arriving through all ports of entry during 2022 was 8 026 409. The 2022 figure represents an increase of 154,8% as compared with the 2021 figure of 3 150 007. Foreign arrivals were made up of 684 613 non-visitors and 7 341 796 visitors. Visitors were made up of 1 643 734 same-day visitors and 5 698 062 tourists (overnight visitors). The breakdown of tourists by sex and age is as follows: 3 345 806 were males, 2 352 256 were females; 323 577 were less than 15 years, 455 795 were aged 15-24, 1 340 098 were aged 25-34, 1 698 053 were aged 35-44, 1 056 277 were aged 45-54, 530 155 were aged 55-64, 294 103 were aged 65+ and 4 did not specify their age.
