Inequality in South Africa has long been recognized as one of the most salient features of our society. In addition to being extremely high, South African inequality appears to be remarkably persistent. To better understand the inequality challenges facing the country, Stats SA has produced a comprehensive report on inequality trends in partnership with the Southern Africa Labour and Development Research Unit (SALDRU) based in the School of Economics at the University of Cape Town and the Agence Francaise de Développement (AFD).
