Key findings: Report-01-00-01 - Income and expenditure of households (IES): Economic analysis, 2005
The Income and Expenditure Survey (IES) of 2005/2006 shows that expenditure on housing, transport and food continues to dominate household consumption in the South African economy (close to 60% of the total). Comparing IES 2005/2006 with IES 2000, transport (20% of total consumption) grew fastest as a result of accelerated purchases of motor vehicles in 2004
