This statistical release provides information on the sources and uses of cash of provincial government for the fiscal years 2006/2007 and 2007/2008, classified economically and functionally. The net change in the stock of cash from the provincial revenue funds and donor funds amounted to R1 057 million for the 2007/2008 fiscal year. The amount has increased from R292 million in 2006/2007.
     
Major Influences

The major contributors to the amount of R1 057 million of net change in the stock of cash of provincial government for the fiscal year 2007/2008 are the cash receipts from operating activities, R214 570 million, (2006/2007: R186 243 million); cash payments for operating activities, R191 592 million, (2006/2007: R165 721 million); purchases of non-financial assets, R22 048 million, (2006/2007: R20 340 million); and sales of non-financial assets, R127 million, (2006/2007: R110 million).
