This statistical release provides information on the sources and uses of cash of provincial government for the fiscal years 2005/2006 and 2006/2007, classified economically and functionally. The net change in the stock of cash from the provincial revenue funds and donor funds amounted to R292 million for the 2006/2007 fiscal year. The amount has decreased from R587 million in 2005/2006.
     
Major Influences

The major contributors to the amount of R292 million of net change in the stock of cash of provincial government for the fiscal year 2006/2007 are the cash receipts from operating activities, R186 243 million, (2005/2006: R215 542 million); cash payments for operating activities, R165 721 million, (2005/2006: R201 450 million); purchases of non-financial assets, R20 340 million, (2005/2006: R13 621 million); and sales of non-financial assets, R110 million, (2005/2006: R116 million).
