STATEMENT OF SOURCES AND USES OF CASH OF PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT 2005/2006

This statistical release provides information on the sources and uses of cash of provincial government for the fiscal years 2004/2005 and 2005/2006, classified economically and functionally. The net change in the stock of cash from the provincial revenue funds amounted to R633 million for the 2005/2006 fiscal year. The amount has decreased from R2 395 million in 2004/2005.
     
2. Major Influences

The major contributors to the amount of R633 million of net change in the stock of cash of provincial government for the fiscal year 2005/2006 are the cash receipts from operating activities, R215 348 million (2004/2005: R191 310 million); cash payments for operating activities, R201 214 million, (2004/2005: R178 002 million); purchases of non-financial assets, R13 617 million, (2004/2005: R10 988 million); sales of non-financial assets, R116 million (2004/2005: R74 million).
