1. Statement of sources and uses of cash of consolidated general government 2005/2006

This statistical release provides information on the sources and uses of cash of consolidated government for the fiscal years 2004/2005 and 2005/2006, classified economically and functionally. The consolidated net change in the stock of cash from the general government sector amounted to R29 662 million for the 2005/2006 fiscal year. The amount has increased from R16 356 million in 2004/2005.
     
2. Major Influences

The major contributors to the amount of R29 662 million of consolidated net change in the stock of cash from the general government sector for the fiscal year 2005/2006 are the cash receipts from operating activities, R525 033 million (2004/2005: R439 867 million); cash payments for operating activities, R481 961 million, (2004/2005: R434 993 million); purchases of non-financial assets, R43 381 million, (2004/2005: R37 126 million); sales of non-financial assets, R399 million (2004/2005: R261 million); net acquisition of financial assets other than cash, R8 146 million (2004/2005: R5 390 million); and net incurrence of liabilities, R37 718 million (2004/2005: R53 737 million).
