STATEMENT OF SOURCES AND USES OF CASH OF NATIONAL GOVERNMENT 2011/2012

This statistical release provides information on the sources and uses of cash of national government for the fiscal year 2011/2012 and 2010/2011, classified economically and functionally. The net change in the stock of cash from the national revenue fund and donor funds amounted to a cash deficit of R26 946 million for the 2011/2012 fiscal year. The amount has decreased from R54 858 million in 2010/2011.

2. Major Influences

The major contributors to the cash deficit of R26 946 million of net change in the stock of cash of national government for the fiscal year 2011/2012 are the cash receipts from operating activities, R764 504 million (2010/2011 R691 144 million); cash payments for operating activities, R900 423 million, (2010/2011: R791 703 million); purchases of non-financial assets, R11 984 million, (2010/2011: R12 404 million); sales of non-financial assets, R115 million (2010/2011: R12 million); net acquisition of financial assets other than cash, R4 345 million (2010/2011: R20 802 million); and net incurrence of liabilities, R125 187 million (2010/2011: R188 611 million).
