STATEMENT OF SOURCES AND USES OF CASH OF NATIONAL GOVERNMENT 2010/2011

This statistical release provides information on the sources and uses of cash of national government for the fiscal year 2010/2011 and 2009/2010, classified economically and functionally. The net change in the stock of cash from the national revenue fund and donor funds amounted to R51 832 million for the 2010/2011 fiscal year. The amount has increased from R26 304 million in 2009/2010.

1. Major Influences

The major contributors to the amount of R51 832 million of net change in the stock of cash of national government for the fiscal year 2010/2011 are the cash receipts from operating activities, R688 371 million (2009/2010 R611 522 million); cash payments for operating activities, R791 956 million, (2009/2010: R731 374 million); purchases of non-financial assets, R12 404 million, (2009/2010: R10 626 million); sales of non-financial assets, R12 million (2009/2010: R17 million); net acquisition of financial assets other than cash, R20 802 million (2009/2010: R35 257 million); and net incurrence of liabilities, R188 611 million (2009/2010: R192 022 million).
