IMPROVING LIVES THROUGH DATA ECOSYSTEMS

This statistical release provides information on the sources and uses of cash of national government for the fiscal year 2007/2008 and 2006/2007, classified economically and functionally. The net change in the stock of cash from the national revenue fund and donor funds amounted to R18 015 million for the 2007/2008 fiscal year. The amount has increased from R12 264 million in 2006/2007.

2. Major Influences

The major contributors to the amount of R18 015 million of net change in the stock of cash of national government for the fiscal year 2007/2008 are the cash receipts from operating activities, R586 113 million (2006/2007: R507 627 million); cash payments for operating activities, R558 445 million, (2006/2007: R494 833 million); purchases of non-financial assets, R9 351 million, (2006/2007: R6 575 million); sales of non-financial assets, R230 million (2006/2007: R39 million); net acquisition of financial assets other than cash, R77 million (2006/2007: R160 million); and net incurrence of liabilities,
-R455 million (2006/2007: R6 166 million).
