This statistical release provides information on the sources and uses of cash of extra-budgetary accounts and funds for the fiscal years 2008/2009 and 2009/2010, classified economically and functionally. The net change in the stock of cash from the national and provincial extra-budgetary accounts and funds amounted to R4 309 million for the 2009/2010 fiscal year. The amount has increased from R1 500 million in 2008/2009.
   
   
1. Major Influences

The major contributors to the amount of R4 309 million of net change in the stock of cash of extra-budgetary accounts and funds for the fiscal year 2009/2010 are the cash receipts from operating activities, R121 079 million (2008/2009: R106 010 million); cash payments for operating activities, R87 116 million, (2008/2009: R82 412 million); purchases of non-financial assets, R23 859 million, (2008/2009: R15 021 million); sales of non-financial assets, R294 million (2008/2009: R236 million); net acquisition of financial assets other than cash, R14 999 million (2008/2009: R17 290 million); and net incurrence of liabilities, R8 910 million (2008/2009: R9 977 million), (see Table A, p.5).
