STATEMENT OF SOURCES AND USES OF CASH OF EXTRA-BUDGETARY ACCOUNTS AND FUNDS 2005/2006

This statistical release provides information on the sources and uses of cash of national and provincial extra-budgetary accounts and funds for the fiscal years 2004/2005 and 2005/2006, classified economically and functionally. The net change in the stock of cash from the national and provincial extra-budgetary accounts and funds amounted to R4 933 million for the 2005/2006 fiscal year. The amount has increased from R2 788 million in 2004/2005.
     
2. Major Influences

The major contributors to the amount of R4 933 million of net change in the stock of cash of extra-budgetary accounts and funds for the fiscal year 2005/2006 are the cash receipts from operating activities, R67 346 million (2004/2005: R58 496 million); cash payments for operating activities, R51 932 million, (2004/2005: R45 061 million); purchases of non-financial assets, R3 481 million, (2004/2005: R3 547 million); sales of non-financial assets, R62 million (2004/2005: R61 million); net acquisition of financial assets other than cash, R6 694 million (2004/2005: R8 048 million); and net incurrence of liabilities, -R368 million (2004/2005: R888 million), (see Table A, p.4).
