Table A – Capital expenditure by the public sector 2018

The total capital expenditure by public sector institutions decreased by R22 327 million from R271 948 million in 2017 to R249 621 million in 2018.

Capital expenditure increased on land and existing buildings (R2 892 million) and on transport equipment (R897 million). Capital expenditure decreased on new construction works (-R20 647 million), ‘other fixed assets’ (-R3 780 million), plant, machinery and equipment (-R1 311 million) and leased assets and investment property (-R378 million).
