Table A – Capital expenditure by the public sector 2021

The total capital expenditure by public-sector institutions decreased by R6 107 million from R204 323 million in 2020 to R198 216 million in 2021.

Capital expenditure decreased on, plant, machinery and equipment (-R2 000 million), ‘other’ fixed assets (-R1 946 million), new construction works (-R1 642 million), leased assets and investment property (-R717 million) and on transport equipment (-R34 million). Capital expenditure increased only on land and existing buildings (R232 million).
