Key findings: P9101 - Capital expenditure by the public sector, 2005

Extra-budgetary funds reflected the largest annual increase in total capital expenditure, from R1 203,5 million in 2004 to R1 658,6 million in 2005 (37,8%), followed by district and metropolitan municipalities, from R8 058,6 million in 2004 to R9 422,7 million in 2005 (16,9%), provincial government, from R10 706,4 million in 2004 to R11 727,9 million in 2005 (9,5%), and national government from R5 060,4 million in 2004 to R5 336,5 million in 2005 (5,5%). Local municipalities reflected the largest annual decrease in total capital expenditure, from R5 248,9 million in 2004 to R4 455,6 million in 2005 (15,1%), followed by public corporations, from R23 900,7* million in 2004 to R23 402,5 million in 2005 (2,1%), and universities, universities of technology and technikon,  from R1 302,8 million in 2004 to R1 280,5 million in 2005 (1,7%).
