Freight transportation

The volume of goods transported (payload) decreased by 4,2% between July 2015 and July 2016. The corresponding income showed no growth over the same period.

Income from freight transportation increased by 4,8% in the three months ended July 2016 compared with the three months ended July 2015. The main contributors to this increase were:

  • primary mining and quarrying products (11,7% and contributing 3,9 percentage points); and
    manufactured food, beverages and tobacco products (27,6% and contributing 3,2 percentage points).

Passenger transportation

The number of passenger journeys decreased by 17,2% in July 2016 compared with July 2015. The corresponding income decreased by 4,4% over the same period.
