Key findings: P7162 - Land transport survey, June 2016
Freight transportation
The volume of goods transported (payload) increased by 5,0% between June 2015 and June 2016. The corresponding income increased by 5,7% over the same period.
Income from freight transportation increased by 5,4% in the second quarter of 2016 compared with the second quarter of 2015. The main contributors to this increase were:
- primary mining and quarrying products (12,2% and contributing 4,0 percentage points); and
manufactured food, beverages and tobacco products (22,4% and contributing 2,8 percentage points).
Passenger transportation
The number of passenger journeys decreased by 15,9% in June 2015 compared with June 2016. The corresponding income decreased by 0,2% over the same period.
