Key findings: P7162 - Land transport survey, January 2016
Freight transportation
The volume of goods transported (payload) decreased by 13,8% in January 2016 compared with January 2015. The corresponding income decreased by 9,6% over the same period.
Income from freight transportation decreased by 4,7% in the three months ended January 2016 compared with the three months ended January 2015. The main contributor to this decrease was primary mining and quarrying products (-13,2% and contributing -4,6 percentage points).
Passenger transportation
The number of passenger journeys decreased by 10,9% in January 2016 compared with January 2015. The corresponding income increased by 3,1% over the same period.
