Key findings: P7162 - Land transport survey, March 2015

Freight transportation

The volume of goods transported (payload) increased by 2,0% in March 2015 compared with March 2014. The corresponding income increased by 3,7% over the same period.

Income from freight transportation increased by 4,5% in the first quarter of 2015 compared with the first quarter of 2014. The main contributors to this increase were:

  • primary mining and quarrying products (11,4% and contributing 4,1 percentage points); and
  • agriculture and forestry primary products (13,6% and contributing 1,1 percentage points).

Passenger transportation

The number of passenger journeys remained unchanged in March 2015 compared with March 2014. The corresponding income increased by 2,5% over the same period.
