Freight transportation

The volume of goods transported (payload) increased by 3,8% in November 2012 compared with November 2011. The corresponding income increased by 9,9% over the same period.

Income from freight transportation increased by 4,0% in the three months ended November 2012 compared with the three months ended November 2011. The main contributors to this increase were:

primary mining and quarrying products (6,3% and contributing 2,0 percentage points); and
manufactured food, beverages and tobacco products (9,3% and contributing 1,3 percentage points).

Passenger transportation

The number of passengers transported decreased by 0,2% in November 2012 compared with November 2011. The corresponding income increased by 14,3% over the same period.

Income from passenger transportation increased by 14,9% in the three months ended November 2012 compared with the three months ended November 2011. Income from passenger transportation by road increased by 13,7% (contributing 10,4 percentage points), and income from passenger transportation by rail increased by 19,1% (contributing 4,5 percentage points).
