Income from freight transportation

The income from freight transportation for the three months ended November 2011 increased by 18,1% compared with the three months ended November 2010. Income from freight transportation for November 2011 increased by 18,1% compared with November 2010, while the volume of goods transported (payload) increased by 11,0% over this period.

The year-on-year increase of 18,1% in income from freight transportation for the three months ended November 2011 was driven largely by primary mining and quarrying products (33,3% and contributing 10,3 percentage points), followed by manufactured food, beverages and tobacco products (11,3% and contributing 1,6 percentage points) and other freight (17,4% and contributing 1,6 percentage points).

Income from passenger transportation

The income from passenger transportation for the three months ended November 2011 increased by 11,9% compared with the three months ended November 2010. Income from passenger transportation for November 2011 increased by 10,6% compared with November 2010, while the number of passengers increased by 7,4% over this period.

The main contributor to the year-on-year increase of 11,9% in income from passenger transportation for the three months ended November 2011 was road passenger transportation (11,6% and contributing 9,0 percentage points), followed by railway passenger transportation (13,0% and contributing 2,9 percentage points).
