Income from freight transportation

The income from freight transportation for the three months ended November 2010 increased by 7,1% compared with the three months ended November 2009. Income from freight transportation for November 2010 increased by 8,0% compared with November 2009. The volume of goods transported (payload) for November 2010 increased by 5,3% compared with November 2009.

The increase of 7,1% in income from freight transportation for the three months ended November 2010 compared with the three months ended November 2009 was driven largely by primary mining and quarrying products (7,2% and contributing 2,2 percentage points), manufactured food, beverages and tobacco products (8,2% and contributing 1,2 percentage points) and other freight (9,1% and contributing 1,0 percentage point).

Income from passenger transportation

The income from passenger transportation for the three months ended November 2010 increased by 9,6% compared with the three months ended November 2009. Income from passenger transportation for November 2010 increased by 12,6% compared with November 2009. The number of passengers for November 2010 decreased by 10,1% compared with November 2009.

The main contributor to the increase of 9,6% in income from passenger transportation for the three months ended November 2010 compared with the three months ended November 2009 was road passenger transportation (15,6% and contributing 11,5 percentage points). However, this increase was counteracted by a decrease in railway passenger transportation (-7,2% and contributing -1,9 percentage points).
