Year-on-year percentage change in food and beverages income at constant 2015 prices by type of income

Measured in real terms (constant 2015 prices), total income generated by the food and beverages industry decreased by 32,0% in October 2020 compared with October 2019. The largest decrease was recorded for bar sales (-57,1%).

In October 2020, the main contributors to the 32,0% year-on-year decrease were:

  • restaurants and coffee shops (-51,3% and contributing -26,4 percentage points); and
  • catering services (-54,9% and contributing -8,7 percentage points).

Food and beverages income at constant 2015 prices for the latest three months by type of enterprise

Total income decreased by 38,4% in the three months ended October 2020 compared with the three months ended October 2019. The main contributors to this decrease were:

  • restaurants and coffee shops (-55,9% and contributing -28,6 percentage points); and
  • catering services (-59,0% and contributing -9,2 percentage points).

Seasonally adjusted food and beverages income increased by 5,7% in October 2020 compared with September 2020. This followed month-on-month changes of 12,0% in September 2020 and 16,8% in August 2020.
