Year-on-year percentage change in food and beverages income at constant 2019 prices by type of income

 

Measured in real terms (constant 2019 prices), total income generated by the food and beverages industry decreased by 0,7% in July 2024 compared with July 2023. The largest negative annual growth rate was recorded for ‘other’ income (-10,8%). The only positive annual growth rate was recorded for bar sales (7,5%).

In July 2024, the negative contributors to the 0,7% year-on-year decrease were catering services (‑5,4% and contributing -0,6 of a percentage point) and takeaway and fast-food outlets (-1,4% and contributing -0,5 of a percentage point). Restaurants and coffee shops (0,7% and contributing 0,4 of a percentage point) was the only positive contributor.

 

Food and beverages income at constant 2019 prices for the latest three months by type of enterprise

 

Total income increased by 1,5% in the three months ended July 2024 compared with the three months ended July 2023. The positive contributors to this increase were restaurants and coffee shops (2,3% and contributing 1,2 percentage points) and takeaway and fast-food outlets (2,3% and contributing 0,8 of a percentage point). Catering services (-3,8% and contributing -0,5 of a percentage point) was the only negative contributor.

 

Seasonally adjusted income for the food and beverages industry decreased by 3,2% in July 2024 compared with June 2024. This followed month-on-month changes of 3,7% in June 2024 and 4,7% in May 2024.
