Year-on-year percentage change in food and beverages income at constant 2019 prices by type of income

 

Measured in real terms (constant 2019 prices), total income generated by the food and beverages industry increased by 0,5% in August 2023 compared with August 2022. The largest positive annual growth rate was recorded for ‘other’ income (11,1%).

In August 2023, the main positive contributor to the 0,5% year-on-year increase was takeaway and fast-food outlets (4,9% and contributing 1,7 percentage points).

 

Food and beverages income at constant 2019 prices for the latest three months by type of enterprise

 

Total income increased by 2,1% in the three months ended August 2023 compared with the three months ended August 2022. Positive contributors to this increase were:

  • takeaway and fast-food outlets (3,9% and contributing 1,4 percentage points); and
  • catering services (12,8% and contributing 1,4 percentage points).


Seasonally adjusted income for the food and beverages industry decreased by 3,9% in August 2023 compared with July 2023. This followed month-on-month changes of 0,4% in July 2023 and 2,5% in June 2023.
