Year-on-year percentage change in food and beverages income at constant 2019 prices by type of income

 

Measured in real terms (constant 2019 prices), total income generated by the food and beverages industry increased by 7,1% in June 2023 compared with June 2022. The largest annual growth rates were recorded for:

  • bar sales (18,6%); and
  • ‘other’ income (14,1%).

In June 2023, the main contributor to the 7,1% year-on-year increase was restaurants and coffee shops (7,6% and contributing 3,5 percentage points).


Food and beverages income at constant 2019 prices for the latest three months by type of enterprise

 

Total income increased by 6,7% in the second quarter of 2023 compared with the second quarter of 2022. The main contributors to this increase were:

  • restaurants and coffee shops (6,0% and contributing 2,8 percentage points); and
  • catering services (14,4% and contributing 2,2 percentage points).

 

Seasonally adjusted income for the food and beverages industry increased by 0,1% in June 2023 compared with May 2023. This followed month-on-month changes of 1,1% in May 2023 and 2,2% in April 2023.
