Year-on-year percentage change in food and beverages income at constant 2015 prices by type of income

 

Measured in real terms (constant 2019 prices), total income generated by the food and beverages industry increased by 8,3% in May 2022 compared with May 2021. The largest annual growth rates were recorded for ‘other’ income (14,5%) and income from food sales (9,0%).

In May 2022, the main contributor to the 8,3% year-on-year increase was takeaway and fast-food outlets (9,0% and contributing 3,1 percentage points).

 

Food and beverages income at constant 2015 prices for the latest three months by type of enterprise

 

Total income increased by 11,9% in the three months ended May 2022 compared with the three months ended May 2021. The main contributors to this increase were:

  • takeaway and fast-food outlets (14,2% and contributing 4,8 percentage points); and
  • restaurants and coffee shops (8,6% and contributing 4,4 percentage points).


Seasonally adjusted income for the food and beverages industry increased by 1,4% in May 2022 compared with April 2022. This followed month-on-month changes of 4,1% in April 2022 and 3,9% in March 2022.
