Key findings: P6420 - Food and beverages, May 2021
Year-on-year percentage change in food and beverages income at constant 2015 prices by type of income
Measured
in real terms (constant 2015 prices), total income generated by the food and
beverages industry increased by 573,3% in May 2021 compared with May 2020. The
largest positive annual growth rate was recorded for food sales (562,5%).

and coffee shops had the highest annual growth
rate (2 885,5%).

beverages income at constant 2015 prices for the latest three months by type of
enterprise
Total income increased by 166,7% in the three months ended
May 2021 compared with the three months ended May 2020. The main positive
contributors to this increase were:
- restaurants and coffee shops (205,1% and contributing 90,2 percentage points); and
- takeaway and fast-food outlets (213,6% and contributing 71,6 percentage points).
Seasonally adjusted income
for the food and beverages industry increased by 6,1% in May 2021 compared with
April 2021. This followed month-on-month changes of 6,9% in April 2021 and 4,5%
in March 2021.
