Measured in real terms (constant 2015 prices), total income generated by the food and beverages industry increased by 1 961,1% in April 2021 compared with April 2020. 

The largest positive annual growth rate was recorded for food sales (2 040,9%).

In April 2021, only catering services had a measurable annual growth rate (85,7%).

 

Food and beverages income at constant 2015 prices for the latest three months by type of enterprise

 

Total income increased by 33,2% in the three months ended April 2021 compared with the three months ended April 2020. The positive contributors to this increase were:

  • takeaway and fast-food outlets (66,0% and contributing 21,1 percentage points); and
  • restaurants and coffee shops (29,2% and contributing 15,2 percentage points).

 

Seasonally adjusted income for the food and beverages industry increased by 9,5% in April 2021 compared with March 2021. This followed month-on-month changes of 4,5% in March 2021 and 21,9% in February 2021.
