The total income generated by the food and beverages industry for April 2012 increased by 4,8% compared with April 2011. The main contributor to this increase was food sales (4,6% and contributing 4,0 percentage points).

The main contributor to the annual growth rate of 4,8% in total income for April 2012 was takeaway and fast-food outlets (9,6% and contributing 2,8 percentage points), followed by restaurants and coffee shops (4,0% and contributing 2,2 percentage points). Catering services recorded a decrease of 1,7% (contributing -0,3 of a percentage point).

The total income generated by the food and beverages industry for the three months ended April 2012 increased by 6,9% compared with the three months ended April 2011. The main contributor to this increase was food sales (6,7% and contributing 5,8 percentage points).

The year-on-year increase of 6,9% in total income for the three months ended April 2012 was driven mainly by takeaway and fast-food outlets (12,4% and contributing 3,6 percentage points), followed by restaurants and coffee shops (4,8% and contributing 2,6 percentage points) and catering services (4,2% and contributing 0,7 of a percentage point).
